Obituary for Anna M. Woof

Anna Margaret Woof passed away peacefully March 5, 2019, at the age of 96. She was a resident of Atrium Assisted Living, and Senior Care, of Black River Falls, for several years. She had been under the care of Black River Hospice for a short time.

Anna was born November 21, 1922, in La Crescent MN, to John and Maria (Bottjer) Horman. In 1933, the family moved to the Disco area where she attended school. She worked on the family farm into her late teens. She enjoyed taking care of the land and animals all her life. She was especially fond of puppies. She achieved her GED in later years after her children were grown.

Anna married William C Woof, in Antigo, WI in 1945. After living in the Antigo area for a short time they returned to Black River Falls. William passed away in 2000, after 55 years of marriage. They raised five children. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, October 29, 1941, and spent her life active in Bible education, sharing God's promises for the earth and mankind.

Anna took care of large gardens and loved to preserve an abundance of fruits and vegetables. She also loved a variety of flowers. She was a very good cook and baker, especially known for baking bread and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and her favorite, embroidery. She also loved to dance. She really enjoyed Country Western and Bluegrass music. She taught herself to play the guitar. Many remember her entertaining at several nursing homes with her friends, Ann Schoen and Frances Scholze, as "The Milkmaids", for many years. She also sang with Dara Snyder. She recorded a song her husband wrote, which was played on the radio. She is also remembered for entertaining with her skillful yodeling, even doing so a few days before her passing.

Anna was a caregiver to many throughout her life. She nursed many friends and relatives through illness and hardship. She was known as Florence Nightingale, by those she cared for. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.

Anna is survived by her sons, David of Coquille, Oregon, Philip (Lisa) of Black River Falls, daughters Sara (Daniel) Scholze of Black River Falls, and Debra Lahr (Luther) of Concrete, Washington. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caleb Woof, Aaron (Heidi) Woof, Becky Woof, Joshua (Eve) Woof, John Bender; Matthew Scholze, Maria (Jeremy) Pillard, Amber (Chris) Highfield, Jacob (Alicia) Scholze; Bob Jr (Lacy) Lahr, Jesse (Tina) Lahr, Justin Lahr; Ben Woof, Jessica (Trevor) Green, 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Anna is preceded in death by her husband, William, daughter, Lois Lahr, her parents John and Maria, brother Harry, twin sister Ada Jones, brother in law, James Jones, son in law, Bob Lahr, grandson, Jesse Woof, great grand daughter, Angel Woof.

Visitation for Anna will be Monday, March 11 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a Memorial of her life at 4:00 PM, at Torgerson Funeral Home of Black River Falls, who is assisting the family with arrangements. James Paulley officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.
